A Few Days in Pelling

Flower of Pelling

The Beginning

Together in Station
My family at Sealdah station

On 23rd February, we went to Sealdah station for the Darjeeling Mail to arrive. We went to Sikkim on this train only. We arrived at the Chaasum Restaurant for food and beverages. We ate some breakfast. Then, on the long road towards Pelling City in the mountainous regions of West Sikkim, it took four hours to reach there.

We were seated in the car at 10:00 AM, and then it took us nearly four to five hours for us to reach the Phamlhakhang Ecohomestay in the village just after Pelling City. We somehow managed to reach there by 3:00 PM, and we started to rest for a bit.

The People and the Nature

Not only me, but also some other family members had seen the people in Sikkim. Their eyes are small, their skin is very fair and fresh, and even the colour of their skin is almost white. We enjoyed something very unknown in our breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then, we somehow managed to climb up to see the Kanchenjunga as well as the Kanchenjunga Falls.

Then we went to the Khechuperi Lake in Singlitam. We wished for something useful. We have seen Tibetan prayer wheels on the side. Then, the next day, we went to visit Skywalk Pelling in Pelling City. There is also another monastery beside the Skywalk in Pelling. Is that so? Then we had our dinner a few hours after we came back from outside. I could not bear the uneven road surface. I vomited twice on the road due to motion sickness, but I still enjoyed it.

The Homestay We Lived

The Homestay Garden was quite beautiful. The Homestay fire was very comfortable. This was not our goal of achieving something very important while we were on our trip. Our trip should be famous and “awesome. This is how we spent our trip: by our best behaviour and explanation of our actions. Nothing can be done by just staying at home.

However, the trip had seven family members. Dad and Mom are known as the parents, as well as the two heads of my family. My uncle and aunt could be a little bit annoying when I am busy with something. 😉

The Earthquake and the Night Sounds

I felt an earthquake when I woke up to go to the bathroom to urinate. The earthquakes were accompanied by motion sickness in hilly areas. It entered a state where the earthquakes felt even more severe. This was an unexpected event that was not meant to be so severe.

However, there was another sound that could be noisy. They are elephant-like pig sounds. The natural sounds at night are like owls or other nocturnal birds, which call very loudly but far away from the homestay. This would have been a great idea to have birds chirping out in the morning. This is how we stayed in the homestay while we were still on a trip. To make matters worse, it always required wearing hoodies, sweatshirts, and woollen clothes.

There were many birds and other animals which call out in the morning. There were no aeroplanes to distract us from our business. If so, I heard someone snore at night at 3:00 AM. It was both my uncle and dad. Nothing could prevent them from snoring loudly.

I was sleeping on the lower floor bed, and it was quite uncomfortable to sit or lie there. My back and neck hurt when I woke up to see the Kanchenjunga. It was golden because of the orange sun’s rays and yellowish-white on the surface of Kanchenjunga.

Walls, Heaters, and Hot Tea

The food for breakfast was served at 8:00 AM and dinner at 8:00 PM. Then the morning routines were to serve black coffee, and the twilight routines were to serve black tea. Nothing can be memorable without ourselves. The homestay has another building beside it. It was all where we ate our breakfast and dinner.

The homestay has three rooms. The first is on the lower floor, and the second and third rooms are on the main floor. It was cold outside. But it would have been even colder if the heaters had not turned on. So, it happens when we feel cold.

Sidkeong Tulku Bird Park

However, lunch was eaten in random other locations in Pelling or somewhere else. Then the next morning, I visited the bird park to see Lady Amherst’s pheasants, golden pheasants, white pheasants, silver pheasants, and other animals, such as emus. It made my life happier with birds. Now, we are back. So, it would have been a wolf call in the night. It sounded like the wolves were coming towards us because the sound of them became louder. I heard them every night.

What I Feel

Nothing can be challenging when we have our family supporting each other. Every single day feels like an enjoyment over prison and misery. If I were to go alone, then it would have been a miserable but easy journey.

I would have been such an easy son of my dad and mom, and then travelling with only a few family members would not have served in doing all these events.

Ziplines and Motion Sickness

Those events from Thingle I, II, and III were prosecuted. It was nothing. However, the events to me were amazing. Thingle I Zipline was not at all available when we went to Thingle I again.

When we arrived there, I vomited again so suddenly after getting out of the car. These were not great to us because they only lasted for at least a few minutes to 30 minutes to make sure that there is no great damage in our traces and the internal structure of the building.

a Few Words That Matter

My health was not good when I returned from the inter-trip to the homestay. My health was good and was finally better once I was done with my trip. Nothing would stop me from having fun in Pelling city. There were no troublesome people, but fair and rich people living there in West Sikkim. It’s not bad to have anything unfair or fair because life isn’t always fair, and everyone must live comfortably, happily, fairly, friendly and respectfully.

Three Generations on a Trip

For the past few days, there were Dad, Mom, Uncle, Aunt, Grandma, and Grandpa, and I was all having a good time in Pelling City, and the room heaters were turned on by my parents. They turned on the heater depending on their rights.

One thing I would like to mention is that I have enjoyed an interaction with my aunt. She was dressed like a noblewoman, and she also held me tight with her hands. Uncle is also the same. However, they sometimes consider me as a rare nephew. With my parents, it’s a different story. Dad does not get along with Mom very well, but that’s his problem.

However, even though my interactions with my uncle, aunt, dad, and mom were going better, for my grandparents, the interaction situation was going even worse than before. They always remind me of the past part of my life. They had talked about my incidents in the past. They talked badly about me to my parents when I was going to Pelling City by a train called Darjeeling Mail. I got in so much trouble, but only for one day. Then everything went fine and respectful about myself. My grandparents were jealous of how I was free from trouble.

Hey, this is Soham Karmakar! I'm 15 years old and a student in Class 9, getting ready to step into Class 10. People often say I'm a pretty calm and nice guy—I like to keep things chill and focused. When I'm not studying, you'll probably find me geeking out over my two favorite things: aeroplanes and watches. I love everything about aviation and how planes work. I'm also really into watches—there's just something cool about their intricate design and how they tick. I guess I'm just fascinated by things that are well-engineered and built with precision!
